We’re not alone in our enthusiasm. Halloween is now the 3rd biggest retail event of the year, with more than 175 million Americans expected to participate in Halloween activities. The National Retail Federation finds Americans spend an average of $87 on Halloween items. Total spending for 2018 is expected to top $9 billion. “The economy is good and consumer confidence is high, so families are ready to spend on Halloween this year,” according to NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay. “Retailers are stocking up to supply children, pets and adults with their favorite decorations, candy and costumes for the season.”
